I needed to make this list for myself. To remind myself of what to do in order to overcome this bone-chilling weather. It’s cold around here! Here’s this week’s Friday’s Five:
Five Ways to Deal With Crazy-Cold Weather
1. Eat more warming foods.
According to Eastern medicine and theory, it’s this time of year when we should comfort our body by eating foods that warm you: squash, onions, coconut, dates, walnuts, mussels, chicken, cinnamon, coriander and rosemary. Check here for a list of more warming (and cooling) foods.

2. Exercise.
It’s amazing all the ailments “breaking a sweat” can help. Exercise is a mood booster and endorphin pumper. I barely notice the cold temperatures when I’m in the middle of a great workout.
3. Sip on warm beverages.
I try and drink lots of water, but this is the time of year when I need other options. Coffee, tea, warmed milk . . . And hold the mug with both hands. That part is key. It’s so soothing, and I warm up much faster that way.
4. Make time to cuddle with a warm blanket, sit by a fire or hang out in your coziest slippers.
Sometimes, in the rush of the day, I forget to take the time to allow myself to warm up. Does that make sense? I just keep muscling through my routine. Instead, I try to remind myself to slow down, and do something that will be comforting, relaxing and warming.
5. Something to think about:

Ah yesss, I’ve been following all these tips to keep warrrrmmm.
Aww cute post
You’ve got to love winter for having an excuse to cuddle up with a blanket and read a good book
That and spending time with family during Christmas break are probably the only reasons why I can stand winter. Only one more month to go
i love #4! Nothing like an excuse to get cozy under a blanket on a cold day
I’ve been drinking coffee a lot more lately because it’s cold. I love the quote at the end. It’s so true
thank you for the upbeat, positive post! I’m still a baby about the cold, though
Love the tips! Have a wonderful weekend!
There’s nothing quite like snuggling up by a fire! One of my favorite ways to keep warm
That’s why I love drinking coffee so much in the winter! Im not a fan of this weather at all! Have a great weekend!
I understand the sentiment of the winter/summer thing, but I lived in Hawaii for a year, and I can say that summer weather is still just as glorious without the contract of winter. But it is when I drink 3-4 cups of tea every day. I love it, too!
I have been loving hot water water with lemon this winter. It tastes great and warms me up first thing in the morning!
Ahh what a breath of fresh air!! Thanks for these wonderful reminders
This is such a fun post and I love all your tips!! The ones that I’d add for me is a hot bath and a fire in the fireplace.
Love all 5 ways! Have a wonderful & cozy weekend <3
it’s 70F here today, don’t hate me. haha. But when it is cold, i drink tea, broth, coffee, and more just stay warm. I am a WEEEEEEENY!
I had a soccer game yesterday morning and it was COLD. We were all miserable until aout 10 minutes into the game, then we were sweating and warm. Its amazing what the body can do, even when the temperature stays the same! And because it was so cold yesterday, I drank 3 mugs of tea within a few hours. Talk about having to pee! lol
I love that quote! I am a huge winter hater, so this post was very helpful to me!
