Product Review: Coconut Oil

coconut oil

Yesterday, I talked about my research and experimentation with coconut oil.  I have tried a couple of different brands of coconut oil so far, and I have to say that I’ve been most impressed with Tropical Traditions.

They have a range of coconut oils, with their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil being the high-end product.  Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, but I was under no obligation to write a positive review, or any review at all.

Well, I decided I had to write a review.  I was that impressed.  The coconut oil was shipped to me in very sturdy packaging, and came in a glass container.  Upon opening the jar, the coconut aroma was much more rich and vibrant than others I’ve tried.  Tasting it confirmed an excellent flavor as well.

Their coconut oil meets all the standards for the highest quality coconut oil you can buy!  And I will most definitely be purchasing from them in the future.

Here are two great resources I found.  One helps explain why Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil has such a great reputation and one describes the differences between their different labels.

If you’re interested in buying any of Tropical Traditions’ products, I would definitely check out their website.  They often have excellent sales!  Also, if you order by clicking on any of my links and have never ordered from Tropical Traditions in the past, you will receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, and I will receive a discount coupon for referring you.

Have you tried Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil?

I’ve never tried it but I hear great things. I saw it at Trader Joe’s and almost bought it but I’m not sure how to use it. It comes as a solid and you have to melt it? Right?

If you want to cook with it, you can melt it in a pan… or if I’m trying coat something with it I’ll heat it up in the microwave. If you want to use it as lotion, the heat of your skin will change it over to liquid pretty quickly! I love it and TJ’s jar is super cheap compared to most places. If you google uses for coconut oil, you’ll find hundreds of different things to do with it. I use it in place of butter or olive oil… depending on the brand you can get a hint of coconut flavor, but I cook everything in it!

I love Trader Joe’s coconut oil–Great taste, texture, and, most of all, price ;D Costco sells some really well-priced jars of it (but BIG), I need to find someone who’s tried those to see if it’s worth buying in bulk!

I haven’t tried this brand, but I will! A and I have been cooking so much more with coconut oil lately, largely due to your obsession–it got me so curious! You’re right, it’s amazing.
