Well, this past weekend went by way too quickly.  Bob and I enjoyed a mini vacation in Florida with my parents.  I experienced Naples for the first time, was treated to lunch at my favorite salad bar: Whole Foods (thanks Mom and Dad!), and went for a daily run amongst the palm trees.  It was heaven.« Continue »

Celebrating in the City

RAW

Bob and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary last weekend. Actually, our anniversary was in June, but we really wanted to see Les Miserables at the Cadillac Palace in Chicago, so we had decided to make the tickets our anniversary gift to one another.

Colorado Road Trip: Boulder

Boulder Farmer's Market

After 16 hours on the road, we are finally home-sweet-home!  I’m excited to cook in my own kitchen, sleep in my own bed, and get back to my gym!  First I need to unpack, but wanted to show a quick glimpse of our last few days of vacation, which were spent in Boulder, CO.  We really enjoy Boulder.  It’s a bike-friendly community, has one of the largest farmer’s markets in the country, and is home to quite a diverse population.  It’s the perfect ending to our vacation!

Colorado Road Trip: What’s That Smell?

IMG_1092

I love walking or running the towns we visit when on vacation.  It’s the perfect way to squeeze in some exercise, while seeing more of what the town has to offer.

The other day, while walking along the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs, CO, a pungent smell hit me.  It was like eggs . . . gone bad.  The stench was strong, too.

I kept walking, soaking up the sun, taking in the sights . . . but that smell just would not quit!  And then I came upon the source.

Colorado Road Trip: The Boathouse Pub

Image

Two years ago, Bob and I found a great restaurant, The Boathouse Pub, just a block from where we were staying in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  As soon as we found out we’d be coming back this summer, we looked online to make sure it was still here.  Good news!  It’s not only still here, but it’s as awesome as ever!

Colorado Road Trip: how we travel

IMG_1007

I adore Colorado.  Seriously adore.  Every summer, Bob and I drive out to those gorgeous mountains and hike until our legs can’t take it anymore.

Hallett’s Peak, 2009

Really.  This year we packed 6 ice packs, China Gel and Biofreeze, compression socks, a roller and 2 tennis balls (to work out the most stubborn knots).  But if we’re going to drive  16 hours, one way, we are surely going to take advantage of the time we have.
